Problem Note 42225: Importing Microsoft Excel data might generate an application error and cause SAS® Enterprise Guide® to close

Importing certain Microsoft Excel data might cause an application error as shown below, as well as cause SAS Enterprise Guide to close. This problem can occur when the .xls file is created by a vendor other than Microsoft. To attempt to circumvent the problem, open and save the data using Microsoft Excel, then import the newly saved data using SAS Enterprise Guide.
If the newly saved data continues to cause an application error in SAS Enterprise Guide, then contact SAS Technical Support.
